Education / relocation
The college traces its origins to 1951. The Hunan Art School and Hunan Film School merged into Hunan Arts Vocational College in 2002. The college relocated to its Songya Lake campus in 2018. The old campus is associated with Yuelu Mountain.

Electrical manufacturing
A 2013 report visited the former Changsha Zhongyi refrigerator factory on Zhongyi 2nd Road and described rows of old factory buildings. The site was once associated with a prominent Changsha appliance brand.
